This week’s Goodness New will catch you up on trends in the philanthropic sector, and the population at large.
- There is no one model for effective philanthropy. The Center for Effective Philanthropy explores how foundations can adapt their structure to their own unique purpose.
- Does Facebook’s new Donate Button hurt nonprofits more than it helps? Nonprofit Quarterly suggests that the new feature really only benefits those who pay for advertising on the site (out of the price range of most nonprofits).
- A new study revealed that human beings spend roughly one eighth of their lives in an unhealthy or disabled state, regardless of their location. This held constant both in countries with high life expectancies, and those that were relatively lower, on average.
- A universal basic income is being touted as the new bipartisan solution to poverty. Will it take off? Switzerland, for one, is considering it.
Please note: Next week is Rosh Hashana, so there will not be a full-length post, but stay tuned – we will be back after the holiday. As always, thanks for reading!
